Greetings from ednapurviance.org, The first documentary video about silent film actress Edna Purviance will premiere at the Cinecon Classic Film Festival in Hollywood, California over Labor Day weekend. Edna Purviance was Charlie Chaplin's leading lady for 34 films from 1915-1923. The documentary titled "Edna Purviance - The Angel from Nevada" features never before seen photos of Purviance and Chaplin, stills from Edna's lost film "The Sea Gull" (also known as "A Woman of the Sea"), and a new theory about how Chaplin discovered Edna. The film ends with the story of Edna's later years and family life as told by her grand niece Lita Hill, who lived with Edna and knew her over 20 years. Filmmaker and historian Linda Wada, who created the research and tribute web site www.ednapurviance.org, states: This documentary is the result of eight years research on Edna's background. Combined with the collections of Ednas grand nieces - Lita and Ellie Hill - the documentary is the most in-depth history on Edna Purviance to date." Linda Wada and Lita Hill are also collaborating on the first major biography of Purviance. Lita does plan to attend the event. Cinecon is in its 42nd year, and is a five-day event featuring rare vintage feature films. Date and time for our event was given to us directly from the president of Cinecon, Robert Birchard.
