Charlie Chaplin Conference Presentation:
'Angel from Nevada' Edna Purviance by Linda Wada (DVD 60 minutes)

I will be presenting a DVD presentation of 'Angel from Nevada' the interview with Lita Hill. Lita was Edna Purviance's grand niece and at the time of filming, only one of two family members, who knew Edna in the later years, after her film career

The interview was done over three days, with just Lita and I talking about Edna. I should say, it is really Lita's story about knowing Edna and the family she knew in the later years. I am not on camera and we never rehearsed any of it. I just placed the camera up, and we recorded her story. It includes personal images from the Hill Family albums and film footage never seen of Edna.

The interview (with Lita as guest) was screened at a packed, standing room only event at Cinecon in Hollywood in 2006. This is only the second screening. This 2010 version is the re-edited version, with the new updated film footage. The film is 60 minutes, which includes a short introduction to Edna, followed with Lita's memories about her.

This is about the real person, not the film star. This presentation is about the years no one knew about. Edna didn't disappear from life, but she did disappear from Hollywood. This film touches on those years. So, unlike, most of the presentations at this event, ours will be focused on Edna.

After the Hollywood presentation at Cinecon, the group, Leading Ladies produced the book "The Sea Gull" A Woman of the Sea by Linda Wada in 2008. It has received very good reviews from film experts from Kevin Brownlow to Leonard Maltin (as well as well-received from other authors and fans from around the world), a Honorable Mention for best non-fiction from Beverly Hills Outlook, and included in a growing list of library and film library collections, including George Eastman House, Douglas Centre in Exeter, England, Harvard University, University of Reno, and more.

Leading Ladies and myself, wish to thank Dr. Lisa Stein for the invite to this very special Charlie Chaplin Conference and hope those who may come to our event, will enjoy this special presentation about Edna Purviance, Charlie Chaplin's friend and leading lady.

C
urrently working on the biography about Edna Purviance and her family life, which includes the film years with Charlie Chaplin. It will cover her family before her birth, the Nevada years, the film years (in connection with her family life), and the years after her film career (with her husband, Jack). Chaplin will be part of the book, not the main focus.
