About the book: This will not be another cover to cover Chaplin book, but a book that will focus on Edna's family, starting with her mother's family in England, moving to America, and their life in Nevada. It will cover a period between 1870s through the 1990s. It will go into detail about their lives in Nevada, and how that life help led Edna to a career in films. Along with it, will be the history of Edna's hometown of Lovelock, Nevada, as it went through it's cultural changes.

Once in films, it will go into detail about Edna's career, as seen through her family experience (which has never been covered before). And how Chaplin's career, effected Edna's career and life, as it continues into her years after film.

Edna had an extensive family, that helped create a full life in her childhood, before even reaching films. I am working on capturing that period. I'm writing this book as not just a silent film book, but one for people who also love history as well. I am interested in the changing times for an immigrant family, coming to America, and how their dreams lived out. It's also a story about a strong group of women, and how they managed their way, through a male dominated world. Bookmark this page for updates, as I continue to work on the book. Log Entries - Started June 1, 2013 - by Linda Wada

January 1, 2016 - Completed the first Draft of Edna's family bio. Started the re-write.

June 17, 2015 - Finished and printed the years in the first half of the 1930s. Starting the years during her marriage to John Squire.

May 30, 2015 - Due to other work, writing has been delayed since early April. Back to work on the book.

March 26, 2015 - The page count is up to 288, as I am finishing up the last years, just before Edna met Jack Squire.

January 28, 2015 - Finish up the last year in pictures and started the later years.

January 6, 2015 - Well into Edna's last year in pictures.

December 5, 2014 - Just printed The Sea Gull period for the first draft in Edna's family bio. Starting the period during Edna's last film. Page count up to 271. Back to work...

November 17, 2014 - Rewrote the section about 'Woman of Paris' and the Dines event. Page count now at 262. Well into the years of Edna's first trip to Europe and returning to make 'A Woman of the Sea' - working Titled, The Sea Gull. Film created and directed by Josef von Sternberg.

October 9, 2014 - Just finished the Woman of Paris and Dines era for Edna Purviance's family biography. Page count up to 265. Onto her last film work and nearing the later years.

August 14, 2014 - Just finished the First National years of the bio. Working on A Woman of Paris and her last films. Page up to 235 now for the first draft.

March 30, 2014 - Spent the last three days working solidly on the writing. Lots of rewriting, but up to 19 pages for the First National Section. Getting closer to having the first rough finished.

March 28, 2014 - Lots of work got in the way of writing, but working on the First National Years. 15 pages, written and re-written, but finally making way.

January 1, 2014 - After a long break, will get back to writing this month.

September 9, 2013 - The Mutual years section is complete for the first draft. Current page count for the book is 202. (The Mutual years doesn't mean only about the films, but about her life during that time.)

August 22, 2013 - Up to 11 pages for the Mutual section.

August 21, 2013 - Rewriting the first eight pages of the Mutual section.

August 15, 2013 - Up to five pages now on the Mutual section.

August 12, 2013 - I worked the full weekend on the start of the Mutual section. Only two pages, but a start.

August 9, 2013 - Started the first draft writing of the Mutual Years.

August 8, 2013 - Made the re-prints of two sections today, after re-writing the last 30 or so pages.

July 31, 2013 - Still doing re-writes, as the heatwave has limited my office time. Have 161 pgs. rewritten and printed. (110,701 words) with one more part to re-write.

July 14, 2013 - Re-wrote and re-printed two more sections. Page count 161 (110,701 total words.) One more section to re-write, before starting on with new writing. (The page count is higher, only because I made the font size all at 18 for easier reading. Actually, edited out about 20 pages, total, so far.)

July 5, 2013 - Re-wrote and re-printed 123 pages of the first draft. Total words: 87,094

June 26, 2013 - Re-wrote the first 69 pages of the first draft, which included re-printing and filing in a new notebook.

June 25, 2013 - Have been spending time re-editing the first six sections. (Covering the years starting in England to Paradise.)

June 14, 2013 - Last night, printed the current first draft section that includes the Essanay years. Now have 164 pages in first draft of the full book (that starts in England).

June 13, 2013 - Still writing the Essanay section.

June 5, 2013 - Continuing to work on the Essanay section.

June 2, 2013 - Work on more writing on the weekend. Got 15 new pages, but not printed yet, as I have more to write in the current section.

June 1, 2013 - Today, decided to keep a log of the work in Edna Purviance's family biography. I will have the current update on ednapurviance's home page, and keep the daily entries here.
