Criterion Chaplin Collection and UK Park Circus More will be added, as they come available - Latest version listed first 2010 - With the Warner Bros. Collection now retired, The Criterion Collection in the USA and the Park Circus in the UK, are the latest updated Charlie Chaplin films on DVD and also Blu-Ray. These are the official replacements for Chaplin's copyrighted films. New extras have been created for some of these sets, along with material released before, from the Warner Bro./MK2 Collection. Be very careful in ordering, as it can be confusing, since some of the releases are mixed with DVD/Blu-Ray Dual editions, DVD only releases and Blu-Ray only editions. Not all the films are listed yet, and a future box collection has been mentioned from Janus Films for the USA. I will update this page, as more releases are announced. Modern Times - 1936 Park Circus 2010 MK2 - 2 Disc Dual Format (Blu-Ray/DVD) Pal with Paulette Goddard Needs Blu-Ray Player for high definition. Chaplin's last silent film, released in 1936. It was Paulette Goddard's first starring role and made her a star. It is about Charlie's battle in the machine world, strikes and unemployment, and the 'The Gamin' who join him in the battle. Modern Times' theme music is well known as the melody for 'Smile'. |
